I am the third owner of this car. It had been my dream to own an early C-1 and I was able to purchase this car from a collector in Ohio late last year. The previous owner had purchased the car in 1976 from the original owner. The car has 17,821 original miles and the frame underwent a minor restoration about 10 years ago. Only 3,640 Corvettes were assembled in 1954 in St. Louis, MO and my car was number 620 in the manufacturing sequence. 1954 was the first year with more color choices than Polo White, which was used on about 88% of the '54 models. Some 15% were Pennant Blue and 3% were Red. The engine is a 235.5 cid "Blue Flame Six" with 150 HP and three Carter Type YH 1-bbl carburetors. It has a six-volt electrical system and a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission and vacuum - powered windshield wipers. Original price was $2,774. The cars were virtually handmade and thus did not carry standard Body By Fisher Numbers like other GM cars.
